Formation Program

The Forge

A one-day-per-week Tuesday formation program for boys in the Jacksonville area. The Forge is not a full-time school. The first cohort will be intentionally small — likely four to eight boys — welcomed with attention to maturity, safety, appropriate supervision, and the right fit.

The Five Elements of The Forge

The Forge forms boys through prayer, serious study, hands-on skill, and the kind of brotherhood that helps them grow in virtue, confidence, and joyful strength.

Mass & Prayer

The day begins with Mass. Prayer and reverence are the foundation of The Forge, not an addition to it. When a priest is available, boys may also have opportunities for Confession, spiritual guidance, and other moments of sacramental formation.

Classical Education

Classical education is a privileged instrument of formation, equipping boys to receive the wisdom of the Catholic intellectual tradition. Through reading, memory, discussion, and writing, they learn to think clearly, speak truthfully, and love what is good. The aim is not superficial exposure, but real formation: attention, understanding, virtue, and a deeper grasp of the true, the good, and the beautiful.

Science & Creation

Science at The Forge begins with wonder and careful attention to the created world. Boys learn to observe closely, ask good questions, test what they see, and record their findings with accuracy. The goal is to form habits of patience, precision, and gratitude for the order and intelligibility of creation.

Craft & Skill

Boys need to work with real tools, real materials, and real limits. Through craft and practical skill, they learn patience, responsibility, humility, and the satisfaction of work well done. Just as importantly, they encounter men who can model steadiness, competence, faith, and masculine virtue.

Brotherhood & Free Play

Boys need time to run, wrestle, laugh, compete, negotiate, and simply be boys together. At The Forge, free play is part of formation. It gives boys room to build friendships, practice restraint, take risks, resolve conflict, and grow in courage and joyful strength.

In Partnership with Families

The Forge is not a full-time school and is not meant to replace the family or the parents' role as primary educators. Tyburn Hall exists to support and complement the family's sacred vocation through serious study, prayer, mentorship, and brotherhood one day each week.
