FAQ
Questions Answered
What ages does The Forge serve?
The Forge is designed for middle-school boys. Because boys mature at different rates, we consider each family individually and look for students who are ready to participate seriously, contribute to the brotherhood, and benefit from the rhythm of study, prayer, work, and practical formation.
Is Tyburn Hall a school or a homeschool co-op?
Tyburn Hall is a classical Catholic formation community that partners with families. The Forge meets one day per week and is intended to complement the family's broader educational plan, not to replace it.
Where does The Forge meet?
The Forge meets in the Jacksonville area and begins the day with Mass at Holy Family.
How often does The Forge meet?
The Forge meets one day per week, from morning Mass through early-afternoon dismissal. Families remain responsible for the rest of the week's education at home.
What subjects will be taught?
Each cohort includes one classical academic course and one science course, along with prayer, reflection, and a practical formation block. The specific classical course is still being finalized. The science course will use Oxrose curriculum or another classical or Catholic science curriculum.
Who teaches the courses?
The classical academic course is taught by Oxrose Academy. The science course is taught by a qualified local tutor. The practical formation block is led by men from the community with skill, experience, and a desire to pass on what they know. Some weeks may involve a trade or outdoor discipline; others may focus on leadership, stewardship, financial literacy, or other forms of practical wisdom.
Will there be physical or outdoor activities?
Yes, when appropriate — woodworking, kayaking, fishing, gardening, hiking, horseback riding, outdoor skills, and similar work. Activities may vary by mentor, season, and opportunity. All activities will be selected with attention to safety, maturity, and appropriate supervision.
Is this a Catholic program?
Yes. Tyburn Hall is unapologetically Catholic. Our day begins with the Mass, our formation is ordered toward Christ, and our life together is shaped by the Church's tradition.
Do parents remain the primary educators?
Yes—always. We believe parents are the primary educators of their children. Tyburn Hall exists to support and complement that vocation, not to replace it.
What will The Forge cost?
Tuition is still being finalized. The Forge will require a program fee, but our intent is to keep it in line with comparable part-time classical, Catholic, or homeschool enrichment programs in the area. Families who inquire will receive updated tuition information as soon as it is available.
Can Step Up for Students scholarships be used?
Tyburn Hall is in the process of establishing its provider account through Step Up for Students / EMA so that eligible families may be able to use scholarship funds for approved services. We will provide updated instructions once our provider account is active.
How do we inquire or request an application?
Write to us. The best next step is a conversation. From the Contact page you can request information, and from the Admissions page you can request an application when you are ready. Requesting an application begins a conversation and does not guarantee enrollment.
Is space limited?
Yes. The first cohort of The Forge will be intentionally small. We encourage interested families to reach out early.
